Resumo A produção de mudas de nogueira-pecan tem ganhado força nas últimas décadas, principalmente na região sul do Brasil, e esse aumento na demanda, consequentemente, intensifica os estudos sobre problemas fitossanitários presentes na cultura nessa região. A qualidade sanitária é um fator importante na produção de mudas florestais, tendo em vista a ocorrência de doenças em todas as etapas do processo produtivo. Em abril de 2021, foram observadas manchas foliares escuras e irregulares em mudas de nogueira-pecan em condições de viveiro. A evolução dos sintomas causava queda dos folíolos e comprometimento no desenvolvimento das plantas, devido à redução da sua área fotossintética. Verificou-se que se tratava do efeito causal de um fungo, que foi isolado em meio batata-dextrose-ágar (BDA), tendo, posteriormente, sua patogenicidade constatada em folíolos destacados de nogueira-pecan. Discos de 4 mm da cultura pura do isolado de Phomopsis sp. foram dispostos na superfície de folíolos sadios, previamente feridos com agulha histológica esterilizada. Após a inoculação, os folíolos foram acondicionados em caixas gerbox forradas com duas folhas de papel-filtro esterilizadas e umedecidas com água destilada esterilizada e mantidas em câmara de incubação durante sete dias a 25 ± 2ºC e fotoperíodo de 12 h. Foram utilizados oito folíolos sadios como testemunha, os quais foram submetidos às mesmas condições, utilizando apenas discos de meio de cultura BDA. O isolado mostrou-se patogênico, com os primeiros sintomas após 6 dias da inoculação. As lesões, inicialmente circulares e necróticas, foram coalescendo e aos 10 dias atingiram 16 mm. Foi realizado o reisolamento assim que as estruturas reprodutivas do fungo apareceram, essas foram transferidas para placas de Petri com meio de cultura BDA. O fungo causador dos sintomas foi identificado como Phomopsis sp., e este trabalho apresenta o primeiro relato da ocorrência de mancha foliar de Phomopsis sp. em Carya illinoinensis em condições de viveiro no Brasil.

Abstract Pecan seedlings production has increased in recent decades, especially in southern Brazil, consequently, intensifies studies in crop phytosanitary problems in this region. Sanitary quality is an important factor in the production of forest seedlings, considering the occurrence of diseases in all stages of the production process. In April 2021, dark and irregular leaf spots were observed in pecan seedlings under nursery conditions. The evolution of symptoms caused leaf drop and compromised plant development, due to the reduction of their photosynthetic area. It was verified that it was a fungus, which was isolated on potato-dextrose-agar (PDA) medium, and later had its pathogenicity verified in detached pecan leaflets. Four-mm disks of the pure culture of the Phomopsis sp. were placed on the surface of healthy leaflets, previously injuredwith a sterilized histological needle. After inoculation, the leaflets were placed in gerbox boxes lined with two sheets of sterilized filter paper and moistened with sterilized distilled water and kept in an incubation chamber for seven days at 25 ± 2ºC and 12 h photoperiod. Eight healthy leaflets were used as controls, which were subjected to the same conditions, except for fungus inoculation, using only disks of PDA culture medium. The isolate proved to be pathogenic, with the first symptoms after 6 days of inoculation, the initially circular and necrotic lesions coalesced and at 10 days reached 16 mm. The re-isolation was carried out as soon as the reproductive structures of the fungus appeared, these were transferred to Petri dishes with PDA culture medium. The fungus causing the symptoms was identified as Phomopsis sp. and, this work presents the first report of the occurrence of Phomopsis sp. in Carya illinoinensis under nursery conditions in Brazil.

RESUMO A erva-mate (Ilex paraguariensis) tem grande importância socioeconômica na agricultura familiar do Sul do Brasil. A principal doença da erva-mate é a podridão-de-raízes causada por Fusarium spp. Pouco se sabe a respeito da fisiologia deste patógeno, principalmente quanto à agressividade associada à produção de enzimas extracelulares. Neste trabalho, avaliou-se a agressividade de isolados de F. oxysporum e F. solani patogênicos à erva-mate e determinou-se as atividades das enzimas extracelulares catalase, lacase, celulase, caseinase, amilase, protease, lipase e pectinases produzidas por Fusarium spp. em meio de cultura. Foram utilizados seis isolados de F. solani e um isolado de F. oxysporum patogênicos à erva-mate. O isolado de F. oxysporum mostrou-se menos agressivo em relação aos demais isolados de F. solani. Todos os isolados de Fusarium spp. produziram, de maneira semiquantitativa, as enzimas extracelulares catalase, lacase, celulase, caseinase, amilase, protease, lipase e pectinases (poligalacturonase e pectato liase). Entretanto, a quantidade produzida de cada enzima foi significativamente diferente entre os isolados. Com exceção das enzimas lacase e poligalacturonase o isolado M7C1 de F. solani exibiu as maiores médias do índice enzimático e foi também o responsável pelo maior percentual de morte de mudas de erva-mate.

ABSTRACT The yerba-mate (Ilex paraguariensis) has great socioeconomic importance on family farming in Southerm Brazil. One of the main yerba-mate disease is root rotting, caused by Fusarium spp. Little is known about the pathogen physiology, especially regarding the aggressiveness associated with the production of extracellular enzymes. On this work, the aggressiveness of isolates of F. oxysporum and F. solani pathogenic to yerba-mate was evaluated and it was determined the activities of extracellular enzymes catalase, laccase, cellulase, caseinase, amylase, protease, lipase and pectinases produced by Fusarium spp. in culture medium. Six isolates of F. solani and one isolate of F. oxysporum pathogenic to yerba-mate were used. The F. oxysporum isolate proved to be less aggressive in relation to the other F. solani isolates. All isolates of Fusarium spp. produced, on a semiquantitative manner, the extracellular enzymes catalase, laccase, cellulase, caseinase, amylase, protease, lipase and pectinases (polygalacturonase and pectate lyase). However, the quantity produced for each enzyme was significantly different among the isolates. With the exception of the laccase and polygalacturonase enzymes, the M7C1 isolate showed the highest enzymatic index and was also responsible for the highest percentage of yerba-mate seedlings death.

RESUMO O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o comportamento de isolados de Ceratocystis fimbriata obtidos de kiwi (Actinidia deliciosa) em mudas de acácia-negra (Acacia mearnsii De Wild.), o potencial de biocontrole in vitro de Bacillus subtilis sobre C. fimbriata e o comportamento in vivo de B. subtilis contra C. fimbriata em mudas de acácia-negra. Isolados de C. fimbriata obtidos e identificados em plantios de kiwi foram utilizados em testes de patogenicidade em mudas de A. mearnsii. O potencial antagônico in vitro de B. subtilis sobre o patógeno foi analisado em testes de confrontação direta. Para avaliar o comportamento in vivo de B. subtilis, as mudas de acácia-negra foram inoculadas com Rizolyptus® sete dias antes e após a inoculação do patógeno. Nas mudas de acácia-negra os isolados de C. fimbriata exibiram percentuais de severidade que variam de 44,15% a 100%. Nos testes de confrontação direta as cepas mostraram-se eficientes no biocontrole in vitro sobre os isolados de C. fimbriata. In vivo, o produto Rizolyptus® não foi eficiente no controle de C. fimbriata.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of Ceratocystis fimbriata isolates, obtained from Actinidia deliciosa (kiwifruit), on black wattle (Acacia mearnsii De Wild.) seedlings, the potential biological control exerted in vitro by Bacillus subtilis on C. fimbriata, and the in vivo effect of B. subtilis against C. fimbriata on black wattle seedlings. Isolates of C. fimbriata obtained and identified from kiwi plantations were used in pathogenicity tests on A. mearnsii seedlings. In vitro, the antagonistic potential of B. subtilis on the pathogen was analyzed by direct confrontation tests. To evaluate the effect of B. subtilis in vivo, black wattle seedlings were inoculated with Rhizolyptus® seven days before and after pathogen inoculation. On black wattle seedlings, C. fimbriata isolates caused 44,15% to 100% severity. Direct confrontation tests revealed that the strains were effective in the biological control of C. fimbriata isolates in vitro. In vivo, Rizolyptus® was not efficient in controlling C. fimbriata.

RESUMO A ocorrência de Fusarium spp. é um dos problemas mais limitantes em viveiros, esse patógeno pode ser transmitido via semente e causar danos em pré e pós-emergência. O presente trabalho objetivou identificar isolados de Fusarium spp. a nível de espécie e verificar a patogenicidade desses isolados em lotes de sementes de Pinus elliottii e P. taeda. Foram utilizados dois isolados do patógeno e cinco lotes de sementes de Pinus spp. Para caracterização molecular, sequenciaram-se as regiões genômicas: ITS e fator de elongação 1-α (tef1), para morfologia dos isolados utilizaram-se chaves de identificação específica para o gênero Fusarium. O teste de patogenicidade foi realizado através do contato das sementes com a cultura fúngica por 48 horas, seguida de semeadura em areia. As variáveis avaliadas foram: índice de velocidade de emergência, porcentagem de emergência, plântulas sintomáticas e tombamento de plântulas. O isolado F1UFSM foi identificado como Fusarium verticillioides e o F2UFSM como F. oxysporum. Ambos foram patogênicos a P. taeda e P. elliottii, causando redução no percentual de emergência e tombamento de plântulas.

ABSTRACT Occurrence of Fusarium spp. is one of the problems, most limiting to growth of seedlings, in nurseries. This pathogen can be transmitted via seeds and causes damages to the seedlings during pre- and post-emergence stages. The present study aimed to identify Fusarium spp. at the species level based on morphological and molecular characteristics and to verify the pathogenicity of these isolates in seeds lots of Pinus elliottii and P. taeda. For this, we used two Fusarium isolates and five lots of Pinus spp. seeds. Morphological characterization was performed based on a key, specific to Fusarium spp. identification, whereas, molecular identification was carried out by amplification and sequencing of the regions from internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and the elongation factor 1-α (tef1). The pathogenicity test was conducted through the contact of the seeds with fungal culture for 48 h, followed by sowing them in sand. The variables evaluated were emergency speed index, percentage of emergency, non-emergency seeds, symptomatic seedlings, and seedling damping-off. One isolate, F1UFSM, was identified as F. verticillioides and another isolate, F2UFSM, was identified as F. oxysporum. Both the isolates were pathogenic to the seeds of Pinus spp., causing a reduction in the percentage of emergence and seedling damping-off.

RESUMO: Neste trabalho, objetivou-se avaliar a eficiência dos métodos de superação de dormência de sementes, em diferentes períodos de armazenamento, na produção de mudas de nogueira-pecã. As sementes foram submetidas aos seguintes tratamentos: T1, T4 e T7 - testemunhas (sementes sem qualquer método de tratamento, armazenadas em ambiente não controlado por 30, 60 e 90 dias, respectivamente), T2, T5 e T8 - estratificação (sementes distribuídas em caixas com areia úmida e mantidas em temperatura de 4°C por 30, 60 e 90 dias, respectivamente), T3, T6 e T9 - escarificação + estratificação (sementes escarificadas com lixa n.80 e estratificadas também por 30, 60 e 90 dias, respectivamente), em delineamento experimental inteiramente ao acaso. Avaliou-se, após 14 semanas da semeadura, altura das plantas, diâmetro do colo, número de folhas, emergência total e índice de velocidade de emergência (IVE). O melhor desenvolvimento das plantas de nogueira-pecã, bem como sua emergência e IVE foi observado no tratamento com estratificação por 90 dias e quando combinado escarificação e estratificação por 90 dias. O armazenamento das sementes em ambiente não controlado reduz sua viabilidade.

ABSTRACT: This study evaluated the efficiency of methods to overcome seed dormancy in different storage periods in the production of pecan seedlings. Seeds were submitted to the following treatments: T1, T4 and T7 - control treatments (seeds with no treatment, stored at room temperature for 30, 60 and 90 days, respectively), T2, T5 and T8 - stratification (seeds were distributed in boxes with wet sand maintained at a temperature of 4°C for 30, 60 and 90 days, respectively), T3, T6 and T9 - scarification + stratification (seeds scarified with sandpaper n.80 and stratified by 30, 60 and 90 days, respectively), in completely random experimental design. Plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, full emergence and emergence speed index (ESI) were evaluated after 14 weeks of sowing. The best development of pecan 'plants, their emergence, and ESI were observed in the stratification treatment for 90 day as well as in the scarification + stratification treatment for 90 day. Storing seeds in uncontrolled environment reduced their viability.

RESUMO Cordia americana (L.) Gottschling & J. S. Mill. (guajuvira) é uma espécie florestal amplamente distribuída no território brasileiro e que apresenta importância econômica e ambiental devido à qualidade de sua madeira e utilização em reflorestamentos. Com o objetivo de avaliar a patogenicidade de Fusarium sp. associado às sementes, foram caracterizados, morfológica e molecularmente, quatro isolados do fungo que foram inoculados nas sementes de guajuvira. A caracterização morfológica foi realizada com o auxílio de uma chave de identificação para o gênero Fusarium e para a identificação molecular foram sequenciadas as regiões genômicas Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) e Fator de elongação 1 - alpha (TEF1-α). Os resultados do sequenciamento de DNA concordaram com os da caracterização morfológica e permitiram identificar as espécies Fusarium acuminatum e Fusarium verticillioides. No teste de patogenicidade, verificou-se que ambas as espécies do fungo foram patogênicas a Cordia americana, causando tombamento em pré e pós-emergência, além de apodrecimento de raízes e necrose no hipocótilo.

ABSTRACT Cordia americana (L.) Gottschling & J. S. Mill. (guajuvira) is a forest species widely distributed in Brazil and represents environmental and economic importance due to the quality of its timber and use in reforestation. In order to evaluate the pathogenicity of Fusarium sp. associated with seeds, characterizing the isolates morphologically and molecularly in order to identify them on the species level, was obtained four fungal isolates that were inoculated in seeds to demonstrate their pathogenicity. The morphological characterization was performed using an identification key for the genus Fusarium and, for the molecular identification, genomic regions Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) were sequenced with its elongation factor 1 alpha (TEF1-α). The results of the molecular identification agreed with the morphological characterization and allowed to identify the species Fusarium acuminatum and Fusarium verticillioides, both being pathogenic to Cordia americana, causing damping-off in pre and post emergence, and rotting of roots and necrosis of hypocotyl.

Pinus elliottii é uma espécie de importância no setor florestal e apresenta vulnerabilidade na qualidade sanitária de suas sementes, especialmente pela associação de Fusarium spp., responsável por perdas de plântulas no viveiro. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a ação antagonista in vitro e in vivo dos agentes Trichoderma spp. e Bacillus subtilis (UFV3918) no controle de Fusarium sambucinum, responsável por danos em plântulas de Pinus elliottii. O controle in vitro foi avaliado através da inibição do crescimento micelial (confronto pareado de culturas), após a incubação a 25±2 ºC e fotoperíodo de 12 h. Para os testes in vivo (desenvolvidos em condições de viveiro), as sementes inicialmente foram inoculadas com o patógeno e, na sequência, microbiolizadas com os agentes antagônicos, para posterior semeadura. Utilizaram-se as técnicas de contato com o biocontrolador em meio BDA por 48 h e peliculização, como formas de microbiolização. Tanto Trichoderma spp. quanto Bacillus subtilis (UFV3918) foram eficientes no controle in vitro de F. sambucinum, e no teste de biocontrole in vivo o produto Bacillus subtilis (UFV3918) destacou-se, reduzindo as perdas de plântulas causadas pelo patógeno, assim como potencializando as variáveis de comprimento de plântula, massa verde e massa seca.

Pinus elliottii is an important species in the forest sector, which has restrictions such as seed sanitary quality, especially the association of Fusarium spp., responsible for seedling losses in the nursery. This study evaluated antagonist in vitro and in vivo action of Trichoderma spp. and Bacillus subtilis (UFV3918) in controlling Fusarium sambucinum, responsible for damage in Pinus elliottii seedlings. The in vitro assay considered the inhibition of mycelial growth (paired comparison of cultures) after incubation at 25 ± 2 ºC and photoperiod of 12 hours. For in vivo tests (performed in nursery conditions) seeds were initially inoculated with the pathogen and, subsequently, microbiolized with antagonistic agents, before sowing. The techniques of contact with biocontroller on PDA for 48 hours and seed coating, as forms of microbiolization, were used. Both Trichoderma spp. and Bacillus subtilis (UFV3918) were efficient on the in vitro control of F. sambucinum; however, Bacillus subtilis (UFV3918) was more effective against the pathogen on the in vivo biocontrol test, reducing seedlings losses caused by the pathogen and increasing values of length, as well as fresh and dry matter of the seedling.

O estudo da associação de fungos com sementes pode gerar informações importantes, pois alguns desses microrganismos podem causar danos às sementes, além de afetar a produção de mudas. Este trabalho teve como objetivos avaliar a germinação e fazer um levantamento dos fungos associados às sementes de três lotes de angico-vermelho (Parapiptadenia rigida) procedentes de São João do Oeste-SC (SJO), Sobradinho-RS (SO) e Santa Cruz do Sul-RS (SCS), além de detectar a transmissão e a patogenicidade dos fungos associados às sementes. Por meio do teste de sanidade, foi detectada a presença do gênero Phomopsis sp. como potencialmente patogênico e dois gêneros fúngicos de armazenamento, Penicillium sp. e Aspergillus sp. Dentre as procedências testadas (SJO e SCS), foi verificada a transmissão e a patogenicidade de Phomopsis sp. para a procedência SCS, que provocou lesões necróticas escuras nos bordos dos folíolos, enrugamento das sementes não germinadas e redução da porcentagem de emergência das plântulas em viveiro.

The study of seed-borne fungi in forest seeds may bring important information because some of these microorganisms can cause damage to seeds as well as to the production of seedlings. This research aimed to evaluate germination and survey the seed-borne fungi of three lots of angico-vermelho (Parapiptadenia) from São João do Oeste, Santa Catarina state (SJO), Sobradinho (SO) and Santa Cruz do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul state (SCS), in addition to detecting their transmission and pathogenicity. The presence of the fungal genus Phomopsis sp as potentially pathogenic and the saprophytic fungi Penicillium sp. and Aspergillus sp. was detected through seed health testing. Among the lots tested (SJO and SCS), transmission and pathogenicity of Phomopsis sp was verified in the SCS lot, causing dark necrotic lesions on the folioles edges, wrinkling of ungerminated seeds, and percentage reduction of seedling emergence in seed-plots.

O Jacaranda mimosifolia D. Don é uma espécie florestal pertencente à família Bignoniaceae, com alto potencial para o paisagismo em áreas urbanas. Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito da temperatura e do tipo de substrato na germinação de sementes de J. mimosifolia. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado, num arranjo fatorial 4 × 4, totalizando 16 tratamentos, constituídos pelas combinações de quatro temperaturas (20, 25, 30 e 25-30 °C) e quatro substratos (areia, substrato comercial, sobre papel e entre papel germitest), com quatro repetições de 25 sementes cada. Os seguintes parâmetros foram avaliados: primeira contagem da germinação, germinação, velocidade de germinação e comprimento de plântulas normais. A semeadura entre ou sobre papel germitest, combinada com a temperatura de 25 °C são condições adequadas para a condução de testes de germinação em sementes de J. mimosifolia.

Jacaranda mimosifolia D. Don is a forest species from the Bignoniaceae family with high potential for landscapingin urban areas. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of temperature and substrate on J. mimosifolia seedgermination. The experimental design was completely randomized in 4 x 4 factorial arrangement, in a totalof 16 treatments comprising the combinations of four temperatures (20, 25, 30, and 25-30 °C) and four substrates (sand, commercial substrate, on germitest paper, and between germitest paper), with four replications of 25 seeds each. The following parameters were evaluated: first germination count, germination, germination speed,and length of normal seedlings.Thetemperature of 25 °C, combined with the sowing of seeds between germitest paper and on germitest paper are the mostsuitable conditions to carry outgermination tests on J. mimosifolia seeds.

Angico-vermelho (Parapiptadenia rigida (Benth.) Brenan) é uma espécie nativa de grande valor ecológico e econômico, importante para a recomposição de áreas degradadas. O presente trabalho avaliou incidência, transmissão e patogenicidade de fungos associados a sementes de angico-vermelho de distintas procedências do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Para isso, utilizaram-se três amostras de sementes, com as quais realizaram-se testes de germinação, sanidade empregando-se o método do papel-filtro (PF) e de plaqueamento em batata-dextrose-ágar (BDA), transmissão e patogenicidade dos fungos. A germinação das sementes de angico-vermelho variou de 63 a 91 %. Os fungos considerados potencialmente patogênicos encontrados associados as sementes de angico-vermelho foram: Alternaria sp.; Botrytis sp.; Fusarium sp.; Cladosporium sp. e Pestalotia sp.; sendo que Fusarium sp. foi detectado em todas as amostras pelo método PF, e foi transmitido via semente causando má formação do sistema radicular e dos cotilédones e tombamento de pré emergência. Sua patogenicidade foi confirmada.

"Angico-vermelho" (Parapiptadenia rigida (Benth.) Brenan) is a native species of great ecological and economic importance for the recovery of degraded areas. This study evaluated the incidence, the transmission and the pathogenicity of fungi associated with "angico-vermelho" seeds from different provenances of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Thus, we used three samples of seeds, with which germination and sanity tests were carried out by adopting the methods of filter paper (FP), plating on potato dextrose agar (PDA), transmission and pathogenicity of fungi. Germination of "angico-vermelho" seeds ranged from 63-91%. The fungi considered potentially pathogenic and found associated with "angico-vermelho" seeds were: Alternaria sp.; Botrytis sp.; Fusarium sp.; Cladosporium sp. and Pestalotia sp.. Fusarium sp. was detected in all samples according to the FP method and was transmitted via seed, causing root system and cotyledon malformation and pre-emergence damping off. Its pathogenicity was confirmed.

Este trabalho teve como objetivo testar os efeitos in vitro e in vivo de bioprotetores à base de Trichoderma spp. no controle do fungo Cylindrocladium candelabrum Viegas. Os testes in vitro (confronto direto e inoculação em folhas destacadas) foram compostos pelos seguintes tratamentos: T1 - somente C. candelabrum; T2 - isolado 06006S x C. candelabrum; T3 - isolado 53RR x C. candelabrum; T4 - isolado 5D x C. candelabrum; T5 - Agrotrich® x C. candelabrum; e T6 - Trichodel® x C. candelabrum. Todos os tratamentos foram eficientes inibindo o crescimento do fungo C. candelabrum em confrontação direta, e os isolados de Trichoderma spp. 53RR e 06006S, bem como o produto comercial Trichodel®, controlaram a mancha-foliar em folhas destacadas. Para complementar os testes in vitro, os produtos comerciais Agrotrich® e Trichodel® foram testados em mudas de E. saligna cultivadas em casa de vegetação, com os seguintes tratamentos: T1 - Testemunha: sem inoculação; T2 - inoculação de C. candelabrum; T3 - inoculação de C. candelabrum x Agrotrich®; T4 - inoculação de C. candelabrum x Trichodel®; T5 - somente Agrotrich®; e T6 - somente Trichodel®. Este produto apresentou os melhores resultados na redução dos danos causados pelo patógeno em mudas de E. saligna.

This study tested the effects of commercial biocontrol products on in vitro and in vivo trials against the fungal pathogen Cylindrocladium candelabrum Viegas, leaf blight agent on Eucalyptus saligna. The in vitro tests (direct confrontation and inoculation on detached leaves of E. saligna) were composed by the following treatments: T1 - only C. candelabrum, T2 - 06006S isolate x C. candelabrum, T3 - 53RR isolate x C. candelabrum, T4 - 5D isolate x C. candelabrum; T5 -Agrotrich® x C. candelabrum and T6 - Trichodel® x C. candelabrum. All isolates were efficient in controlling the growth of the pathogen during the direct confrontation test; similarly, Trichoderma spp. 53RR and 06006S, as well as the commercial product Trichodel ®, controlled the symptoms on the detached leaves. In order to complement the in vitro tests, the commercial products Agrotrich® and Trichodel® were tested on E. saligna seedlings cultivated in greenhouse. The following treatments were applied: T1 - control - plants without inoculation; T2 - plants inoculated with C. candelabrum; T3 - plants inoculated with C. candelabrum x Agrotrich®; T4 - plants inoculated with C. candelabrum x Trichodel®; T5 - plants inoculated with Agrotrich® and T6 - plants inoculated with Trichodel®. RESUMO Pesquisas relacionadas à patologia de sementes de espécies florestais nativas, especialmente aquelas mais aprofundadas, são escassas. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a sanidade das sementes de cedro através de dois métodos de detecção, avaliar a transmissão de fungos associados às sementes para as plântulas e avaliar a patogenicidade de fungos associados às sementes e transmitidos para as plântulas. Para tanto, sementes de seis procedências, dentre os estados do Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina e Paraná, foram utilizadas. Estas foram submetidas a testes de sanidade, pelos métodos do papel-filtro e batata-dextrose-ágar (BDA), a teste de transmissão via sementes para as plântulas e a teste de patogenicidade de isolados de Rhizoctonia sp., patógeno escolhido por ser o mais frequente nos testes de sanidade e transmitido via semente. Os fungos encontrados em ambos os testes foram: Pestalotia sp., Rhizoctonia sp., Penicillium sp., Phomopsis sp., Rhizopus sp., Aspergillus sp. e Fusarium sp. Ambos os métodos podem ser utilizados para teste de sanidade em sementes de cedro. Os fungos transmitidos via semente para plântula foram Fusarium sp. e Rhizoctonia sp., sendo que, estes causaram danos nas raízes e posterior tombamento. Foi identificado um isolado de Rhizoctonia sp. patogênico para plântulas de cedro, causando os mesmos sintomas relatados no teste de transmissão.

ABSTRACT Researches about seed pathology of native forest species, especially, those more extensive, are rare. This research aims to evaluate the health of Spanish-cedar seeds through two detection methods, to evaluate the possible transmission of fungi associated to Cedrela fissilis seeds to seedlings and to evaluate the pathogenicity of the fungus transmitted by Cedrela fissilis seeds. For this, seeds from six different locations from Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná states were used. The seeds were submitted to sanity tests, by blotter-test and potato-dextrose-agar (PDA) methods, transmission by seeds to the seedlings and to the pathogenicity test of Rhizoctonia sp., chosen because it was common in sanity testing and transmitted by seed. The fungi found in both of the methods were: Pestalotia sp., Rhizoctonia sp., Penicillium sp, Phomopsis sp., Rhizopus sp., Aspergillus sp. and Fusarium sp. Both tests can be used for the sanity test in Cedrela fissilis seeds. The fungi transmitted by seeds to the seedlings were Fusarium sp. and Rhizoctonia sp., both causing problems in roots and subsequent damping-off. One of the isolates of Rhizoctonia sp. was identified as pathogenic to seedlings, causing the same symptoms observed on transmission test.

Neste trabalho, objetivou-se estudar o vigor por diferentes testes e a sanidade de sementes de guapuruvu (Schizolobium parahyba) procedentes dos estados do Rio Grande do Sul (RS), Santa Catarina (SC) e Paraná (PR) e avaliar a qualidade das mudas produzidas por estas sementes. As avaliações em sementes foram: teor de água, germinação, diferentes testes de vigor e sanidade e as de mudas em viveiro foram: sementes duras e mortas, emergência, altura de plântula e comprimento de raiz, diâmetro do colo, peso fresco e peso seco. Para as sementes, as amostras procedentes de SC e PR tiveram melhor desempenho nas avaliações de primeira contagem de germinação, massa seca e envelhecimento acelerado, as quais foram eficientes para estratificar as procedências de sementes em diferentes níveis de vigor. Os fungos encontrados nas sementes foram Aspergillus sp., Alternaria sp., Penicillium sp. e Trichoderma sp. Com relação às mudas, as sementes de PR apresentaram os melhores resultados nos testes em que as diferenças foram significativas (emergência, comprimento de raiz e peso de matéria seca de plântulas). Algumas variáveis de laboratório tiveram correlação com as de viveiro, indicando estreita relação entre os testes.

This research aimed to study the vigor and the quality of Schizolobium parahyba seeds from samples of three different states, Rio Grande do Sul (RS), Santa Catarina (SC) and Paraná (PR) and to evaluate the seedlings quality produced by these seeds. The seeds were submitted to evaluations of moisture content, germination, vigor and healthy. The seedlings quality was evaluated by hard seeds, dead seeds, emergence, seedling height, root length, collar diameter, fresh and dry weight of seedlings. On the seeds evaluations, the samples from SC and PR presented better results for first count of germination, dry matter and accelerate aging. The fungi associated to the seeds were Aspergillus sp., Alternaria sp., Penicillium sp. and Trichoderma sp. About the seedlings evaluations, seeds from PR showed the bests results when the differences between tests were significant (emergence, root length and dry weight of seedlings). Some of the labs variables had correlation with the seedlings variables.
